Focusing on students' comprehensive quality and ability, International Exchange College (IEC) has always devoted itself to training practical and high-skilled international-orientedtalents with new knowledge and new ideas. In recent years, we have been effectively promoting the educational internationalization by starting a series of Chinese language courses (teaching Chinese as a foreign language) and advancing internationalstudent-related projects. The IEC consists of 4 foreign language-related majors and college English department, and shares the offices with the Foreign Affairs Division. IEC has a teaching force ofmore than 70 people full-time teachers, over two thirds with medium or senior titles, and every year IEC also employs 15 to 20 experts or scholars as full-time lecturers from English-speaking countries such as Britain, USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia. IEC has developed 11 provincial or institute-level excellent courses, 9 Internet-courses as well as over 20 textbooks. Currently, IEC has been equipped with a multi-functional English network platform, 9 language labs, and over 20 multi-media classrooms, and IEC also has separate rooms for foreign trade training room, simultaneous interpretation training,fast-record training, and interactive scene recorded language training All these have created a superior learning environment for the cultivation of talents for the export-oriented enterprises in line with international standards.

  

Profile of the International Exchange College

International Exchange College offers 4 majors including Applied English, Applied Japanese, International Business, and International Accounting (the latter two are the Sino-Australia cooperative programs). Applied English and Applied Japanese aim to foster and train students’ key foreign language competencies of speaking, listening and interpretation as well as practical abilities in handling international trade. In recent years, students have made outstanding achievements in a variety of state-level or provincial-level language skill competitions, including 1 second prize and 2 third prizes of the state level and 3 special prizes of the provincial level, and 35 other first, second or third prizes of the provincial level, all of which well its 

leading level in language-skill competition within the province. International Business and International Accounting, adopting the teaching mode of Australian TAFE and all-English small-sized class, aim at “Teaching in China and achieving the same as in Australia”. The 2 majors offer double certificates, one issued by Holmesglen Institute of Australia and the other by ZBTI. The teaching management and quality have won universal approval both at home and abroad. In 2009, the Sino-Australia cooperative programs were assessed as A-level by the Education Department of Zhejiang Province; In March of 2012, International Exchange College was awarded the prizes of “the Best Overseas Teaching Achievement” and “Excellent Management” by Holmesglen Institute of Australia; In May of 2013, the International Business Program was granted “the Demonstrative Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Program” by the Education Department of Zhejiang Province.
